Google Caffeine Demands Organic, Multimedia Content From Your Site

Google never stands still for long, and it is this ethos along with their seemingly unerring bid to provide quality to web searchers that has helped retain their position at the top of the search engine pile for so long. While they typically introduce 500 or more minor tweaks every year intended to improve or bolster the search results and the algorithms behind them, Google Caffeine is considered a major and radical change.

Despite the fact that it is being billed as a momentous change in search, the Google Caffeine update is not likely to be noticed by the average web searcher. It has however prompted mass discussion and debate from web developers, marketers, and power searchers.

The Next Step In Search Evolution

For a start, Google describes Caffeine as being the next step in developing future search technologies. Specifically it has added greater weight to authority and a little more impact from exact match domains. It is also seen as being a step forward in terms of semantic indexing, which Google has long seen as being the way forward in serving users with the most relevant and naturally written and produced content.

Semantic Indexing

Semantic indexing doesn’t concentrate on a single keyword. It looks at each query that is made via their search engine by a searcher. It then references this against their semantic index and determines related keywords and search phrases. The result is that sites that include related keywords and based on topically related subjects can perform as well as those that concentrate on the single keyword.

Organic Content

The greatest shift of power caused by the Google Caffeine update has been the shift even further towards natural or organic content; something that Google has wanted to achieve for many years and has continued to take great leaps towards.

Keyword stuffing, reciprocal and paid linking, and more covert cheats like hidden or cloaked text and keyword lists are not only being downgraded in Google’s algorithms they are being heavily penalized.

What Google Caffeine Means To Website Owners

Website owners, developers, and marketers need to look at their website content and consider what they have and what may need changing. Some of the more authoritative social networks have been given greater weight in terms of the algorithms. Technorati tag pages, for example, along with Scribd pages are surfacing higher and higher in the search results and this means links from these sites can really benefit your own link profile.

Page Load Speed

Site speed, or page load speed, has also become more important and Google once again seems to be taking this seriously enough that its warranted comment from the team themselves. The reasoning behind this move is that as the Internet and the websites it hosts become more dynamic page load becomes a greater issue.

Google Caffeine And Your Website

Search results are becoming considerably more blended. Gone are the ream after ream of text based content, to be replaced by pages that include press releases, static content, image results, news results, blog results, and video results. Multimedia and social networking as well as more organic websites are definitely the Google Caffeine way.
